  • good morning!  i hope you are doing well.  i won't go into too much detail, but it's just been a really weird morning for me.  from my alarm failing to go off... to the gigantic spider in the shower... to my oddly swollen pinky toe, everything just feels a little "off".    but i managed to make it to work in one piece, so already we're seeing signs of improvement.    whew.

last night was our last pottery class for the spring session.  sadness.  however, i signed up for the summer session, which starts at the end of june.  AND i'm delighted to announce that my mom signed up to take the class with me!    how fun!  i'm so excited!

i took a few pictures at the pottery studio last night, just so you could get a feel for what goes on at these classes.  (sorry about the poor quality...  i didn't have the nicer camera with me.)

    A.  I'm sorry about the intruder in your shower.  I remember you having an issue with this before.  If I remember correctly, that caused much angst that day, too.

    2.  I love the pottery pics.  And I can't wait to hear about you AND mom doing it this summer!

@gsowell - if i remember correctly, i think last time it was a centipede... which was slightly more traumatic for me than this morning's incident.  but regardless, it was very unpleasant!  i'm such a baby.

  • faithchick

clearly, the spider bit your toe.

loooooove those pictures!  that looks like such fun.  how cool that your mom signed up, too!  Has work Erin met your mom yet?  I love kathy's big garden pot--holy moley.  i always wondered how people made such huge things on the wheel--i guess coiling is the trick?

  • bethelaine

@faithchick - i bet that same spider also turned off my alarm clock.  jerk!  good thing i killed him.  he is floating with the fishies now....

about kathy's pot -- you can make huge pots on the wheel if you are super talented, but in this case, she coiled the whole thing without using the wheel at all.  actually, i think she just put it on the wheel last night because we were out of table space!

erin has not met my mom.  and sadly, she's not able to take the summer class, so she won't get to meet her then either.  booo...  but i'm still pumped about the class!

I came back for another look.  Judy's basket-weave tile/trivet/whatever is cool!

I also LOVE your square stuff.  Way to break out of your box.  Or break into your box.  Whatever.

  • bethelaine

@gsowell - "break into your box" - HAHA!  thanks, i'm really excited to see how those square vases turn out!  they were a bit of an experiment!

Loved the pics! Hope your day normalizes as it goes on.

loved the peek into the studio!  Thanks for sharing!  How does kathy get her arm down in that ginormous pot to shape it or is there a super long tool for that?  Wish I had a pottery studio around here - i think that would be so much fun!

I too loved the peek into the studio.  What a morning you had!  I hope the rest of the day is going better.

    Love the pictures!! So cute

It looks like so much fun! I would love to see the swollen pinky toe... it sounds bizarre.
