last evening i attended the first class of my summer pottery session. the class contains a good mix of seasoned potters and beginner potters -- should be fun! i think my mom really enjoyed herself! she did a great job on her first-ever potter's wheel experience. i think she's a natural.

as promised, here are a few pictures of some of my pieces from the last class.

this is my first attempt at mugs. they are far from perfect, but not too horrible either.
the tops got a little too thin, so i'll have to work on that for next time!
aren't these vases cool? i really love how they turned out!
(for a little perspective, the tallest one is about 1 foot high.)
the red set is a belated mother's day gift for my mom, and the black set is for my sister.
this is one of the larger pieces that i've made.
i think it'll make a great fruit bowl!well, i must get to work! i have a pretty full plate, so there's no time to dilly-dally! have a wonderful wednesday!

You're getting really good at this! I'm especially impressed with the mugs! Love the look of black pottery, it has such a rich texture.
Wow! Nice job on the pottery! It looks amazing - I especially love the bowl & mugs. You're going to need extra cupboard space soon with all of these pieces you create
Glad your mom had fun too!
I'm loving your work. If we didn't live in the boondocks where I have to drive hours on end for a pottery class, I'd love to take one!
Leah: "Oh, those are pretty cups!" Nice job! You're getting everything nice and round and even...and handles are tricky. Go you!!!
Love those fun mugs--very cute!
I love those mugs, too! So cute! I'm glad that you get to do this with your mom, too - what a fun time together!

holy cow. I'm amazed!! That's like real, actual, could be used in someone's home, pottery! GO YOU!!! I was waiting for unrecognizable blobs that we'd have to pretend coo over...
JUST KIDDING!
But really, these are gorgeous. I want the black and blue vases!!
